Gretel, Hänsel und Gretel, Humperdinck
New production of Humperdincks "Hänsel und Gretel"

Also the following seems to contribute to the survival of this fairy-tale Opera:
The children's parts of H?nsel and Gretel are absolutely instructive for young Opera performers, there is a lot of great singing and character acting involved. And so it happened that some famous names - later in their lives - had their first appearance right here. If we remember correctly, Ileana Cotrubas and Agnes Baltsa had their first appearance here in Frankfurt and this is where both started their career. Let's hope the same for the new-comers of today's performance: Tamar Rachum as Gretel and Margit Neubauer as H?nsel, both a pleasure not only to look at but also to listen to:young, beautiful Sopranos with a great attitude to match their performance. Tamar Rachum proved to be particularly brave due to her broken hand which, luckily, did not affect her voice.
